| It is of great economic importance to gain knowledge of the problems and opportunities of small businesses in Sweden. For this reason, ESBRI has been arranging a theses competition together with NUTEK (Swedish Business Development Agency), Ernst & Young and Företagarna (Federation of Private Enterprises in Sweden) for several years.
The first competition was held in the school year of 1990-1991. The main goal was to create an interest in small business and entrepreneurship issues. Since then, there has been a shift in focus towards entrepreneurship: in the public debate, and within education as well as in research. Therefore, NUTEK has decided that the theses competition has fulfilled its mission, and the agency is moving on towards new projects. The fourteenth and final theses competition was held in the school year of 2003-2004.
